All About Tuberculosis

Editorial Policy

This editorial policy explains how All About Tuberculosis researches, writes, checks and corrects its tuberculosis (TB) pages. It covers our sources, our citations, our byline and how we handle errors.

Who is responsible

Ali Hassan Mahay, the founder and editor, is responsible for every page. He is not a clinician. No doctor or other clinician reviews our pages, and no page claims such a review. If a clinical reviewer joins the site, this policy will name that person and say what they check.

Sources we use

At All About Tuberculosis we take every medical claim from a named, published source. We use these sources:

  • CDC, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • WHO, the World Health Organization
  • NICE, the UK National Institute for Health and Care Excellence
  • FDA drug labels, read on DailyMed
  • NIH, the US National Institutes of Health, including MedlinePlus
  • State and local health department TB programs
  • Peer-reviewed journals

US sources come first, because the site is written for readers in the United States. Global figures from WHO appear where the question is about TB around the world. Prices name the provider or price source and the date it was read.

How we write our articles

Each article follows the same steps before it is published.

  1. Sources are read at source, on the publisher's own page, not through summaries.
  2. A research brief is written for the page, listing its questions and the source for each answer.
  3. A draft is prepared with AI assistance from that brief.
  4. Ali Hassan Mahay fact-checks the draft against its sources and edits it.
  5. The page is published only after that check. A page he has not checked does not go live.

The byline on every article reads "By All About Tuberculosis. Researched, fact-checked and edited by Ali Hassan Mahay."

The brand is the author, and Ali is named for the work he does on each page.

How we handle figures

Every figure appears as its source states it, with the same value and the same certainty. We do not round, combine or work out new numbers from a source. A figure no allowed source states is left out. Where two allowed sources disagree, the page names both and gives each value.

How we cite

Every article ends with a numbered list of its sources. Each entry gives the title, the publisher and the date of the version we read. In the text, we date claims from CDC and WHO, as in "CDC guidance from 2025". That date tells you how current the advice is.

Quality checks

Each page is checked against its sources before publication. The check traces every figure back to the source it came from. A value that differs from its source is fixed. So is wording that is stronger or weaker than the source.

Updates and corrections

Medical guidance changes, and pages are updated when their sources change. Each article shows a last updated date at the end. When we find an error, or a reader reports one, we correct the page and change that date.

To report an error, use the details on our contact page. Please name the page and the sentence, and the source that says otherwise if you have one.

Advertising and independence

The site is funded by display advertising. Advertisers have no say in what a page says. We do not write pages for advertisers, and we do not sell products or collect leads. Ads are switched off at launch.

Images

We use no stock photos. Where a diagram helps, it is an original drawing made for this site. Its caption and alt text describe only what it shows.

Not medical advice

Our pages are information, not medical advice. Read the medical disclaimer to see where to get TB care.
