If the reading is missed, the skin test has to be placed again2. CDC guidance from 2025 recommends the skin test for children younger than 53. Walmart closed all 51 of its Walmart Health centers, announced in April 2024 (Walmart, 2024). The Walmart Pharmacy services page lists vaccines and strep, flu and COVID-19 testing, with no TB test. A Walgreens blog post of April 2025 points readers to TB control offices, local clinics and the health department. Store by store, the Walmart tuberculosis test page checks what is offered.

Where can I get a TB screening near me?

You can get TB screening near you mainly through state and local health department TB programs. Some states make it free; Hawaii says all TB diagnosis and treatment services are free. CDC guidance from 2024 does not say health department testing is free everywhere, so call ahead1. Philadelphia charges nothing for its TB tests, and uninsured children and adults qualify. New York City Chest Centers test at low or no cost by appointment, need no insurance and ask no immigration questions. Concentra, an occupational health chain, lists the skin test and the QuantiFERON and T-Spot blood tests. CDC guidance from 2019 calls for baseline testing of new health care workers. After that, it advises no routine yearly test unless there is exposure. Latent TB cannot spread, unlike active TB disease, CDC said in 2025, so a positive test does not make you contagious.
